I have honestly tried several methods out there. I started out trying to do it on my own with a book then searched the internet for all the free lessons (there are a ton), then tried a DVD lesson becuase I wanted to play like Jimmy Page. And guess what? I learned a lot but didn't really learn how to play. Everything was all over the place and not structured at all. I also looked at trying a local instructor but I coudln't afford the prices.

But then I found a online learning method that made learning very easy and even better I could afford it. For the price of one hour of in person instruction I had a years worth of instruction and this was even better since I could go over it as many times as needed.
