Go to a best buy and get one of those spanish learning tapes that you download onto your computer and you can learn it right at home

(you can learn spanish for free on there)
you can also go to barnes & noble and buy a phrase book, work book, or both to help you learn spanish. oh, and i also saw a couple of flash card sets there too.

you could buy rosetta stone, but its very very expensive (like $400 for the whole set), so I wouldn’t. there’s a program called Rocket Spanish that’s pretty good and only $100. also, you could look in your local library. they probably have tapes or something you can check out.
i’ve tried Rocket Spanish and it’s very good. The lessons are not very heavy, and you can easily remember them They have a free 6-day trial period, and lots of free bonus lessons afterwards.. you should try it!
There is Pimsleur. It’s a great program and takes you through- it just doesn’t use very much text. you could play it in your car on your commute to and from work every day.
I’m not allowed to say that you could go to and download it from there for free.

I would just say to go to mexico for that time, but that doesn’t sound like it would work. You learn amazingly fast through immersion.
You should have your friend just talk to you in spainish 90% of the time, as though you understand it. Have her tell you the names of things in your house, and have conversations with her as much as you can.
Don’t be shy, either. Make mistakes and stumble through it- in the end you’ll learn a lot.
that’s great to have a native to practice with, but Rosetta stone is a great program that will really teach you. however, it’s very expensive, so try finding a good deal on ebay!

I am currently taking a Conversational Spanish course at the local community college and the teacher said that Rosetta Stone, while expensive, is an excellent program for learning the language. If the raise is that huge, it would be worth the investment.
If I were you, I wouldn’t hire the Colombian right away unless she is a teacher. Think about it – if you had to teach someone to speak English, would you know where to start or how to go about it? It’s difficult without a plan. For example, I have taken Spanish classes before but they were not conversational, like the one I’m taking now. I’m finally learning how to put together sentences and learning the most useful vocabulary words to know. It’s very different because of the focus.
Another tip the teacher gave which seemed to help several classmates: watch the soap operas on the Spanish channels. You can get used to hearing the words spoken and turn on the subtitles to see the words.
