Ok. usually what ends up happening from dance movies it that the person may have the wrong technique and end up doing the move wrong, or worse hurting themselves. I suggest going to a dance school and taking lessons. If you are talking about a dance instruction video, I personally dont like those shows because they try to cram years worth the practice and technique into an hour or less. Its not effective. Go get some real dance lessons!!
HAPPY DANCING

Highly trained dancers can certainly pick up moves by watching a video. In fact, video is now the main way that dance companies record their own repertoire to pass down to future dancers. However beginners need to take classes with a qualified teacher. Without a teacher, you won’t know when you’re doing something wrong, so mistakes can never be corrected and become a bad habit.

i really don’t think so, only dancers who have danced for years can pick up moves just by watching. but, if you are only looking for a style, than yes, watch the films and decide which is your style, but than definately take a course to learn it

I am quite probably much older than you I however learned dancing through watching such dancing greats as Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Sammy Davis Jr.

Personally I found dance studio’s somewhat limiting and stifled the imagination and creativity. For the gals out there check ou Cyd Charisse or Juliette prowse as they are as smooth as silk

what kind of dance? just curious..
if you watch the dance repeatedly, you can pick it up after practice… but it is easier to use the dances for inspiration….
if it is a dvd, you could do a frame by frame teaching….
have fun!!
