As soon as you can get the child to understand what the toilet is for. By 2 years they should be ready.

Yes and no. I see no formula to this being that my 4 year old was 3 (boy) and my 2 year old demands a turn at the potty all the time already.

The key to parenting the potty training is to manage the schedule. For us, after meals and knowing whent he big B.M.’s happen was the key to success that made it all come togeather.

If you can hit the pee-pee time a few times when they actually have to go, and shower them with praise right away- it happens more often and the training ends with success.

yes for sure that is a lil late but i think once your child can walk and communate with you alil to let you know when they need to go is a good time to start alot of people say when they start seeing an interest about the potty. but for every person i think it is different for one because everyone is different. good luck maybe you could offer to help her maybe she is not sure about when to or how to go about doing it.

Yes, your friend’s little one should have been potty trained a long time ago. It sounds as though your friend is just too busy or too lazy to potty train her daughter & that’s too bad. :(

I would say she should be if not at least near potty trained by now. Most start there children by at least 2, but there are always those who do not care and do not for really late. I remember a aunt of mine had her children in diapers till they where 6. It was only at night but still it was bad. She is going to need to if she starts preschool soon, which she should be.

But it’s not exactly my place to say.

I would say around two…maybe three. Most children start preschool at 3 -4.

Not everyone is ready to use the toilet at the same time. For some kids, it may be as young as 1; for others it may be as old as 4 or maybe even 5. Your friend doesn’t need to rush into potty training. Her girl may simply not be ready yet. BTW, Pull-Ups are just diapers with a fancy name like “training pants”.

Having a child that is 3 1/2 years old wearing Pull-ups is ridiculous and just lazy. I started potty training both my daughter and son when they started walking. Not trying to be rude but your friend is lazy!!!

It depends on each child’s maturity & intelligence, but most mothers begin training at 18months and they have them trained by 2yrs to 2 1/2yrs at most!!!
A 3 1/2yr old who isn’t potty trained is a very bad way to raise a child in my opinion. It has to cause problems for the child and for everyone who has to care for her. Is the child normal? Just wondering.

you should start at 2. once the kid knows s/he has to go and can communicate that, training definitely needs to start!

Yes, she probably should. But a parent should always keep in mind whether the child is ready or not. But at 3 1/2 they should at least be beginning potty training. Training pants dont really help either because they dont help the child feel the difference
